PIKEVILLE — A Pikeville man is in jail, after police say he attempted to break into a pharmacy.
Brandon Kennard, 26, of Pikeville, faces a charge of first-degree criminal mischief for trying to break a window in an attempt to gain entry into the pharmacy early Friday morning.
Pikeville Police were called to the scene of Family Drug Center, on Town Mountain Road, after a burglary alarm was triggered at 2:36 a.m. After arriving at the pharmacy, Patrolmen Michael Riddle, David Adkins and Tony Conn found evidence that led them to a nearby residence. It was there that they found Kennard.
Police say Kennard used a landscape stone to break a window, then fled on foot when the alarm sounded. Kennard reportedly admitted to police he was trying to get into the building.
Kennard was arrested and placed in the Pike County Detention Center.
Riddle continues to investigate the incident.
