A man was accidentally shot and injured by another this weekend, while inspecting guns at the Bull Creek Trade Center.
According to Kentucky State Police, William Fannin was shot in the foot when a gun being handled by another person nearby went off. The shooting took place at 8:30 a.m. at the Bull Creek Trade Center on U.S. 23.
“There were two parties looking at weapons, and as one was looking at it, it discharged and struck the other man in the foot,” said KSP Trooper Shaun Little. Little said Fannin was transported to a local hospital in a personal vehicle.
The shooting is still under investigation by the Kentucky State Police. Trooper Dave Watkins is the investigating trooper.
This isn’t the first gunfire to erupt at Bull Creek Trade Center. In 2006, an argument over the Iraq war by two gun vendors ended with one man shot and killed. Douglas Moore, 65, of Dinwood Road in Martin, shot Manchester resident Harold Smith in the chest after an apparent argument at the flea market.
A grand jury later found the shooter, Moore, justifiable in using deadly force.
