Wilson leads over Johnson

PIPPA PASSES - Alice Lloyd jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first five minutes of the game and went on to coast to an 86-64 win over Johnson University Monday night at Grady Nutt Athletic Center.


Junior Stuart Stamper and freshman Tyler Rogers combined to score 13 points as Alice Lloyd jumped out to an early lead. Alice Lloyd dominated en route to the win over the visiting team.


The Eagles controlled the first half, eventually carrying a 46-21 lead into halftime.


Johnson was unable to close the gap in the second half. Alice Lloyd’s lead after intermission never dropped below 17 points.


With the win, Alice Lloyd evened its record to 3-3.


Issac Wilson paced the Eagles with 17 points and eight assists. Wilson led the Eagles in both scoring and assists.


The Eagles also fared well inside against Johnson. Alice Lloyd dominated on the boards, outrebounding Johnson 50-22. Muse led the Eagles’ rebounding effort with seven rebounds.


Rogers and Stamper followed Wilson, chipping in 15 points apiece for the Eagles.


Terry Muse joined Wilson, Rogers and Stamper in double figures, finishing with 11 points.


Ricky Johnson led winless Johnson University (0-4) with a game-high 21 points. Alice Lloyd will visit Morehead State University on Thursday. Tip-off for the Alice Lloyd-Morehead State men’s basketball game is set for 7 p.m.
