PITTSBURGH - The Alice Lloyd College women’s basketball team beat a pair of Pittsburgh opponents last week, defeating Carlow and Point Park during a pre-Thanksgiving trip.
A look back at each game follows.
Alice Lloyd 67, Carlow 63: Visiting Alice Lloyd took a hard-fought 34-31 lead into halftime and then eventually pulled away for a 67-63 win over Carlow Tuesday night (Nov. 20).
Alice Lloyd improved to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the KIAC after posting the win.
Reigning KIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ariel Nickell led Alice Lloyd with 19 points and eight rebounds. Hayley Smith followed, adding 15 points for the Lady Eagles.
Carla Booth, a sophomore guard in her first season with Alice Lloyd College after transferring from Eastern Kentucky University, added 13 points.
Booth hit multiple clutch free throws. She was nine-of-12 from the foul line.
JJ Hickson dealt out a team-high five assists and claimed seven rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
Alice Lloyd 71, Point Park 64: Ariel Nickell scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Alice Lloyd past Point Park 71-64 on Wednesday afternoon.
Hayley Smith chipped in 13 points for the Lady Eagles. Joining Nickell and Smith in double figures, Courtney Crowder contributed 10 points for the Lady Eagles.
Crowder also handed out five assists.
Carla Booth dished out a game-high seven assists for Alice Lloyd win the win.
Emily Schartner paced Point Park (4-2 overall, 0-1 in the KIAC) with a team-high 19 points.
With the win, Alice Lloyd improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the KIAC.
