BOWLING GREEN - Even as the weather changes to a less favorable season for those wanting to be on the golf course, many are looking forward to the next year of golf in Kentucky. It won’t be that long until the Bluegrass turns green and golfers flock to courses around the state. The Kentucky Golf Association is finalizing the 2013 championship schedule and it will be released
in the next few weeks. The 2013 Kentucky State Amateur Championship is set for June 18-20 and will be hosted by Bowling Green Country Club.
BGCC will celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2013.
Murray State University senior Patrick Newcomb is the two-time reigning KGA Player of the Year. Newcomb won his second straight KGA State Amateur Championship at The Cardinal Club back in June. He added more points with a tie for runner-up position at the Fred Allen Team Championship and thrived with his performance at the 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship, where he made it to the round of 16 in match play.
