PRESTONSBURG — A Floyd County woman is behind bars after being charged with 16 counts of writing cold checks.

According to court records, Tracy Lynn Oaks, 39, of East Point, is charged with 16 counts of theft by deception for writing cold checks to Food City.

Sixteen checks were allegedly written by Oaks to Food City in Prestonsburg from August 4 through August 15. The checks in question totaled more than $1,000.

Oaks was being held in the Big Sandy Detention Center when the charges were filed. A transport order was issued from Judge Jimmy R. Marcum on Dec. 17, ordering that Oaks be transported to the Floyd County Detention Center.

Oaks, who has been charged on at least three previous occasions for writing cold checks, is now being held in Floyd County without bail.
