Oscar Turner Slone, 63 years of age, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his residence.
Born June 25, 1949, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of the late Tommy Slone and Alice Prater Slone. Oscar was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. He was formerly a faithful employee as a nursing assistant at both Riverview Nursing Home and Mountain Manor Nursing Home, in Prestonsburg.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul David Slone, Tommy Slone Jr., Charles Edward Slone, Gene Autry Slone and John William Slone, and three sisters, Kathryn Johnson, Sarah Virginia Slone and Debra Lynn Slone.
Survivor include two sons, Christopher Slone and Matthew Slone, both of Betsy Layne; a daughter, Jennifer Slone Phipps and her husband, Matthew, of Betsy Layne; three brothers, Herman Slone, George Slone and Gary Slone, all of Prestonsburg; four sisters, Winnie Mae Keathley, Ella Sammons and Marie Lafferty, of Prestonsburg, and Garnett Oldfather, of Warsaw, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Arthur Bronson Phipps and Dylan Timothy Turner Slone.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Eugene Thacker officiating. Burial will be in the Weddington Cemetery, in Prestonsburg.
The family has entrusted arrangements to the Carter Funeral Home.
