Ruby Elizabeth Roberts Young, 96 years of age, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Riverview Health Care Center, in Prestonsburg.
Born March 27, 1916, at Osborne, she was the daughter of the late B.F. Roberts and Maude Sturgill Roberts. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Prestonsburg, for more than 40 years. She was employed for years at Francis Shoe Store.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by a sister, Erian Roberts Sturgill, and five brothers, Margin Roberts, Ranel Roberts, Millard Roberts, Glenn Roberts and Guy Roberts.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Gordon Craig Young, of Prestonsburg; two sisters, Lydia Mae Roberts, of Seattle, Wash., and Winnie Byrne, of Lexington; a brother, W. Rell Roberts, of Lexington; and a step-daughter, Edith Shinn, of Ripley, W.Va.
Ruby leaves many more relatives and friends who will miss her. She will be thought of often by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, at the First Baptist Church, of Prestonsburg, with Rev. Jerry Workman officiating. Burial was in Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel.
In lie of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
