Roslyn Hager Burchett, wife of Robert L. Burchett, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.
Born in Paintsville, she later moved to East Point, where she attended Little Paint Grade School and graduated from Prestonsburg High School in 1952. She graduated Mayo State Vocational and attended Morehead State University. She was employed by Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company. She later worked for Combs and Combs law firm and then for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 13 years, then worked for the Kentucky Employment Service until her retirement in 1998.
Roslyn was an active member of First United Methodist Church, in Prestonsburg, as a Sunday school teacher, administrative board member, sewing circle member and United Methodist Women’s secretary for many years. She was also actively involved in the Floyd County Extension Service and the Quilt Guild.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by a daughter, Diana Turner (Neil), of Prestonsburg; a son, Harry Lee Burchett (Sandra), of Nicholasville; and four very special grandsons, Joshua Neil Turner and Matthew Kyle Turner, of Prestonsburg, and Michael Lee Burchett and Logan Grey Burchett, of Nicholasville. She is also survived by two brothers, Paul Hager, of Berea, and David Hager, of Columbus, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her paretns, Harry and Priscilla Baldridge Hager; a sister, Carolyn Howard; and a brother, Bob Hager.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Prestonsburg First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jim Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Burchett, Logan Burchett, Josh Turner, Dr. Matthew Turner, Patrick Howard, Dr. Tom McGuire and Dr. Mark McGuire.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 256 South Arnold Avenue, Prestonsburg, KY 41653.
The family has entrusted arrangements to the Carter Funeral Home.
