BEREA - The Alice Lloyd College men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped games to Berea College squads at the Seabury Center on Tuesday night. More on each KIAC basketball game follows.
Women’s - Berea 50, Alice Lloyd 43: Playing without standout Ariel Nickell for the second straight game, Alice Lloyd struggled on Tuesday night. In a low-scoring game, host Berea College pulled away to defeat the Lady Eagles 50-43.
Alice Lloyd turned in a stellar defensive performance. The Lady Eagles led 21-18 at halftime. Alice Lloyd, however, faltered in the second half.
With the win, Berea improved to 8-14 overall and 4-5 in the KIAC.
Alice Lloyd dropped to 13-10 overall and 6-5 in the KIAC after suffering the loss.
Johnesha Warren led a balanced Berea scoring attack with 11 points.
No Alice Lloyd scorer reached double figures. Lacinda Hack, Carla Booth Carla McDaniel led the Lady Eagles with nine points apiece. McDaniel narrowly missed a double-double, pulling down 10 rebounds to go along with her nine points.
Men’s - Berea 96, Alice Lloyd 83: The Alice Lloyd College men’s basketball team fell short in a bid to beat host Berea College on Tuesday night. Berea defeated the Eagles 96-83.
The Mountaineers led 54-35 at halftime.
Tevin Webster led Berea with a game-high 26 points.
Cody Stumbo paced Alice Lloyd with 19 points. Stumbo was one of three Alice Lloyd scorers to reach double figures. Terry Muse turned in a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for the visiting team. Justin Hobbs was also productive, scoring 10 points and dishing out seven assists for the Eagles.
