PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville bowling teams will each go into the third and final Mid-South Conference event next month with perfect records after completing the 2013 Bulldog Classic last weekend.
The teams have 12-0 worksheets in the league after winning both the men’s and women’s events in the tournament, which served as the second MSC competition of the season.
The men finished first in the event with a total score of 7029. The next closest team was the UPike women, who rolled a 6807 to win its field by 545 pins.
Second place in the event actually went to the Pikeville JV team, which came in at 6806.
On the women’s side, Bethel finished second at 6262, with the Pikeville JV team third at 6207.
Sophomore Lucas Hohnstein won the individual draw with a five-game total of 1126. His low game for the set was 201 with a high of 257.
Sophomore Derek Perkins followed in sixth with a score of 941. Sophomore Cody Hayes was next with a score of 936, followed closely by freshmen Jeremy Bandy and Chris Lyons at 932 and 924 respectively.
Senior Brian Wicker totaled 903 and sophomore Dave Covert finished with 900.
Freshman Lauren Eggleton came in third in the individual side for the women with a five-game total of 917.
Eggleton was the only Bear to roll all five games. Among those who played four of them, senior Brandy Hensley paced the field at 823.
Freshman Katelyn Simpson followed at 777, with junior Ashley Copley next at 768. Freshman Tricia Kent and junior Christina Halen each rolled 757.
Sophomore Kaylee Magazine and freshman Fallon Tallman tied with scores of 683. Sophomore Felecia Proctor was at 678, while senior Christine McInerney and sophomore Astrid Valiente were at 662. Sophomore Kara Crowe finished with a score of 660.
The teams will be back in action on Feb. 10 when they travel to Lexington to play in the Thomas Burris Memorial.
