Chester Shepherd, 76, of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Prestonsburg on Sept. 24, 1936, to the late Wilce and Madge Shepherd.
He was a United States Army Veteran, retired as an Engineer Associate from Columbia Gas Transmission, and was a devoted member of the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Rosemary Hurt Shepherd; son, Alan Shepherd (Crystal); sister, Betty Wilson (Tom); grandchildren, Graham Shepherd, Hayden Shepherd and Callen Shepherd; and sister-in-law, Pat Shepherd.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 23. Visitation will be held Friday, March 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at First Church of God. Burial in Machpelah Cemetery.
