LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Pikeville’s Christina Halen was among those honored on Wednesday at the Night of Champions banquet.
Halen was named an honorable mention All-American by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association.
Halen is a 5-5 junior from Kennesaw, Ga. In 52 games this season, she carried an average of 194.769. In the other important statistical category, she was 10th in the country in average differential at 25.644.
Differential scores the difference in a player’s score and the average score of a tournament. In this case, Halen’s average score was 25.644 higher than the average score at the tournaments in which she participated.
She placed in the Top 5 in four of the 10 events in which she bowled this season, including a second-place finish in the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic, where she averaged 201.1667. She finished in the Top 10 five times and the Top 25 in six tournaments.
Halen was also named a First-Team All-American by the NAIA.
Halen and the Bears began participating in the USBC’s xbowling Intercollegiate Team Championships, a 16-team tournament at Sun Valley Lanes on Thursday. The finals will be held on Saturday and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network in May.
