PIPPA PASSES - Betsy Layne rolled past June Buchanan School on Friday, winning 20-3 in four innings.
The Bobcats dominated from the opening pitch until the final out in the road game.
Betsy Layne freshman pitcher Dustin Tackett pitched a complete game game, earning the win after registering four strikeouts. Tackett was ahead in the count on most of the June Buchanan batters he faced.
The Bobcats scored 20 runs on 19 hits.
Faring well defensively, Betsy Layne only committed one error in the convincing win.
James Frasure led the Betsy Layne offense with five hits and four RBIs.
Houston Hall and JT Hall aided the Bobcats with three hits and three RBIs apiece.
The Bobcats doubled up June Buchanan 6-3 in the opening inning and plated an additional 14 runs in their final three at-bats while holding the host team scoreless for the rest of the game.
The Bobcats continued to thrive offensively in the top half of the second inning, scoring six more runs to move ahead 12-3.
After neither team could produce any runs in the third inning, Betsy Layne scored eight times in the top half of the fourth inning to move ahead 20-3.
June Buchanan freshman pitcher Nick Johnson suffered the loss. Johnson registered four strikeouts in the short effort.
The Crusaders committed two errors in the setback.
Betsy Layne snapped a two-game losing streak, returning to the win column for the first time in eight days.
With the win, Betsy Layne improved to 6-7.
