Raymond Lee Ward, age 80, of McDowell, husband of Anna Lawson Ward, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his residence.
Born Oct. 17, 1932, at Minnie, the son of the late Fred and Alice Gibson Ward. Raymond was a veteran, member of the UMWA, and belonged to the Free & Accepted Masons: James W. Alley Lodge 869.
Along with his wife, Anna, Raymond is survived by a son, Steven Edward (Kim) Ward; a daughter, Deborah Ann (Robert) Hardee; two brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Ward, both of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Sue Rasnake, of Tazewell, Va.; three grandchildren, Nathan Hardee, Ryan Hardee and Lauren Deshea Ward; and four great grandchildren: Nate, Dylan, Nolan, Alivia.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Ward, and two sisters, Maxie Paige and Sybil Hankins.
Funeral services for Raymond Lee Ward will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Jimmy Caudill and Bobby Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, at McDowell.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Monday, at the Hall Funeral Home, in Martin. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, at the funeral home.
