You decide who is at fault

R.D. “Doc” MarshallFloyd County Judge-Executive

May 30, 2013

I want the people to know that this is not the budget that I proposed for the good citizens of our Floyd County.

Our county is faced with similar obligations as other counties across the commonwealth. Increasing costs with everything and decreased revenue from Coal and Mineral Severance Taxes. However, these counties have continually increased their revenues by implementing an occupational, transient, or insurance tax and they have dramatically decreased their expenses, especially county employee benefits.

In my opinion, this budget proposed by magistrates will not provide adequate services that this county needs to support and maintain our county road system. It is a duty of this fiscal court to provide ample revenue to support the adequate services this county deserves.

For example, the proposed amount for our road department is what the fiscal court spent in 7.5 months, last year.

So, don’t let anyone tell you differently, it’s not the Judge’s fault that we don’t have the money to fix our roads. I will let the people decide who is to blame.
