James Edward Ritchie, 82, of Wayland, died Wednesday June 5, 2013 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1930 to the late Robert and Bertha Burkhart Ritchie. He was the husband of the late Beatrice Stidham Ritchie. James was a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by two daughters: Greta Fay Martin and Geraldine Banks; brothers & sisters: Orville Ritchie, Omer Ritchie, Paul Ritchie, Chester Ray, Earl Ritchie, Mary Lou Collins, Chloe Ritchie: Twin Sister, Pauline Ritchie & Geraldine Ritchie.
He is survived by sons: Clarence (Girdell) Ritchie and Eddie Dean Ritchie both of Wayland, Gary Hall & Dallas Hall both of Ohio; daughters: Edna M. Ritchie of Prestonsburg, and Julia Newland of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother: Johnny (Hazel) Ritchie of Mt. Sterling; two sisters: Ethel Mae (Rufus) Mullins of Mt. Sterling, and Ollie Allen of Wayland; five grandchildren: Thomas Thornsberry, Phillip Ritchie, Bryan (Sabrina) Bates, Eddie Alan (Denise) Ritchie and Brittany (Logan) Scott and three great grandchildren: Kelsey Bates, Arron Bates & Breanna Ritchie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 8, 11:00 a.m. at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home with Jimmy Hall and others officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Stidham Family Cemetery.
