PRESTONSBURG - There isn’t a day that goes by that Pop’s Chevrolet Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags Event Coordinator Kent Rose isn’t promoting the sport of drag racing in Eastern Kentucky. Rose, who is also known as Mr. Horsepower, will get a chance to preside over another drag racing event during the upcoming weekend. The 2013 Pop’s Chevrolet Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags’ All Day Mayhem, a one-day event, will be held Saturday at Paintsville-Prestonsburg Combs Field Airport. The upcoming horse power-heavy event will allow drag racing to return to Paintsville-Prestonsburg Combs-Field Airport, a venue that is quickly a favorite drag racing destination for many in Kentucky and several other states. The racing entry fee for Saturday is set at $50 and anyone who registers to race and pays the fee will be able to run their car throughout the day.
“We want to invite everyone out for some great drag racing on Saturday,” Rose said. “It’s time to shake and bake.”
All Day Mayhem will offer drag racers a chance to test and tune and compete in grudge races. Junior dragsters will also be able to compete during All Day Mayhem. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and racing will be held through dark. Each driver who competes during the event must have a DOT-approved helmet.
Rose spent part of Wednesday evening promoting All Day Mayhem on Paintsville radio station WSIP FM (98.9).
In addition to Pig In a Poke, Mi Finca will also serve as a food vendor for the Pop’s Chevrolet Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags. Recently, Floyd County Jailer Cheyenne McKinney came onboard as a sponsor for All Day Mayhem.
Solar Control will be selling nitrous and fuel through the event.
Paintsville-Prestonsburg Combs Field Airport continues to grow and expand as a drag racing facility. Bob White Construction, led by the work of employee Nathan Slone, has been instrumental in making Paintsville-Prestonsburg Combs Field Airport an even better drag racing venue.
