LOUISVILLE - The American Athletic Conference has announced that Louisville’s Sept. 7 game versus in-state rival Eastern Kentucky at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium is scheduled for a noon kickoff and will be shown on ESPN3.
The Cardinals and Colonels last met in 2010 when Louisville captured the first win of the Charlie Strong era with a 23-13 win at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
Louisville will open the season with a nationally televised game versus Ohio on Sept. 1 at 3:30 p.m. ESPN will broadcast the season-opener.
Under the guidance of Strong, Louisville has posted a 25-14 record in three seasons with two bowl wins and a pair of BIG EAST titles (2011, 2012)
Strong guided the Cardinals to an 11-2 record in 2012 - the school’s fourth 11-win season in school history . Louisville defeated third-ranked Florida 33-23 to win the 2013 Allstate Sugar Bowl. Strong led the Cardinals to a school-best 9-0 start before falling on the road at Syracuse . The Cardinals went 6-1 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in 2012
Strong was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2010.
