LOUISVILLE — Dwight Slone is at it again.

The Prestonsburg man, who grows giant pumpkins and holds the state record with a 1,278.5-pound behemoth, entered his latest monster squash into biggest pumpkin contests at both the Kentucky State Fair and Indiana State Fair, winning them both.

Scales at either or both of the events were a little off. In Indiana, Slone’s pumpkin came in at 1,039 lbs., while in Kentucky, it only tallied 1,034.

Either way, Slone’s pumpkin easily bested the competition, winning by 112 lbs. in Indianapolis and a whopping 940 lbs. against only one other competitor in Louisville.

At the Kentucky State Fair, Slone earned $1 for each pound of his pumpkin, or $1,034.
