SITKA — A Johnson County woman is out on bail, after being charged in connection with a vehicle fatality last week.
Myra Castle was arrested after allegedly being under the influence when her car cross the center line and struck a motorcycle being operated by a Johnson County teenager Casey Mollett.
According to Kentucky State Police officials, on Friday, Aug. 16, Post 9 in Pikeville received a call of a two-vehicle accident on Route 201 in the Sitka community of Johnson County. KSP units responded to the scene and their preliminary investigation indicated that a Castle’s vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a motorcycle operated by 18-year-old Casey Mollett, of Flat Gap.
Mollett was pronounced deceased at the scene by Johnson County Coroner J.R. Frisby. It was determined that Mollett was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Myra Castle, 53, of Wittensville, was arrested later and charged with aggravated DUI first offense. She was released on a $50,000 property bond with home incarceration on Aug. 19. She is next scheduled to appear in court for pre-trial conference on Sept. 4.
The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Craig Hulsey. Trooper Hulsey was assisted on scene by Sgt. Aaron Martin, Tpr. Shane Hurt, Tpr. Adam Hensley, Transtar Ambulance Service and W.R. Castle Fire Department.
