LEXINGTON — Floyd County Commonwealth’s Attorney Brent Turner received recognition from the state’s top law enforcement official last week, during Kentucky Prosecutors Conference.
Turner was one of two commonwealth’s attorneys to receive the 2013 Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney Award.
Attorney General Jack Conway presented the award to Turner and praised him for two particular efforts.
“Brent is a tremendous asset to the prosecutorial system,” Conway said. “His work as special prosecutor resulted in the removal from office of Knott County Judge-Executive Randy Thompson following his federal conviction for theft of federal funds and conspiracy. I also appreciate Brent’s service as a member of the Executive Board of the Appalachian High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).”
Commonwealth’s Attorney Laura Donnell, who represents Anderson, Shelby and Spencer counties, also received the Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney Award, partly for her efforts to crack down on drug dealers in her region.
Also recognized were Hardin County Attorney Jenny Oldham and Garrard County Attorney Mark Metcalf, who each received the 2013 Outstanding County Attorney Award.
