PRESTONSBURG – Big Sandy Community and Technical College will host an Old-Fashioned Gospel Sing on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m., in the Gearheart Auditorium on the Prestonsburg Campus.
Organized by BSCTC’s Anniversary Committee, the event will feature members of the school’s acclaimed Big Sandy Singers and 5 Miles from Nowhere, a popular local bluegrass group. The event is free and open to the public.
“We are very excited to host this event that celebrates traditional music that has shaped our region,” said Clayton Case, director of Fine Arts at Big Sandy Community and Technical College. “Our region has produced and continues to yield some amazing musicians and vocal talent and this is a great opportunity to enjoy some wonderful music.”
The Big Sandy Singers is the elite, auditioned, student singing ensemble from Big Sandy Community and Technical College. Directed by Case, the group has performed in front of country music star Naomi Judd and the University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach, John Calipari.
Big Sandy Community and Technical College is celebrating milestone Anniversaries on its Mayo Campus (75 years), Prestonsburg Community College (50 years) and Big Sandy Community and Technical College (10 years).
