Boys’ Soccer: P’burg rolls past Hazard, 10-0

PRESTONSBURG - The Prestonsburg boys’ soccer team halted a six-game losing streak on Thursday, toppling visiting Hazard 10-0.

Prior to posting the win over Hazard, Prestonsburg had dropped contests to Paintsville, Perry County Central, Letcher County Central (2), Johnson Central and Pikeville.

The Blackcats opened the season with back-to-back wins over Hazard and Shelby Valley.

Prestonsburg, which is under the direction of head coach Emily Rizzo, improved to 3-6-0 after posting the win.

Aaron Foley led the Prestonsburg offensive effort with four goals. Corey Conley and Tyler Lee each had two goals for the Blackcats.

Dustin Blair and Blake Lemaster also got into the scoring act, contributing one goal each in the winning effort.

Griffin Baker dealt out two assists for the Blackcats. Blair and Jordan Bishop each had one assist.

Prestonsburg goalkeeper Grant Martin registered the shutout from his defensive position.

The current 15th Region boys’ soccer standings shape up as follows: Paintsville, 8-0-1; Pikeville, 6-1-1; Johnson Central, 6-3-0; Belfry, 4-6-0; Prestonsburg, 3-6-0; Shelby Valley, 0-7-0.

Paintsville 4, Prestonsburg 2: Visiting Paintsville managed to double up Prestonsburg on Tuesday, Sept. 10, defeating the Blackcats 4-2.

Aaron Foley led Prestonsburg with two goals. Tyler Lee added one assist for the Blackcats.

Defensively, Grant Martin played the entire contest at the goalkeeper position for the Prestonsburg boys’ soccer team.
