PRESTONSBURG - The Prestonsburg High School football program and PHS cheerleading squad visited Riverview Health Care Center for a tailgate party prior to the Blackcats’ game versus Knox Central in the Appalachian Bowl at Clay County on Saturday, Sept. 7. The Blackcats are planning to return to Riverview Health Care Center for a pig roast later in the fall.

Prestonsburg High School’s football program continued to give back to the community during the tailgate party.

“We had a great day at the nursing home,” Prestonsburg Coach John DeRossett commented. “We felt honored to be there. It was an awesome tailgate party - they had food, drinks and music. I am very proud of our players, staff, parents, cheerleaders and all who made this a great event. The nursing home staff and residents went all out to make us welcome and we look forward to going back for a pig roast later in the season.”

Riverview Health Care Center welcomed the Blackcats in for the tailgate party.

“Riverview Health Care was honored to host the Prestonsburg Blackcat football team, including coaches, players and cheerleaders for a tailgate party prior to their game,” Riverview Health Care Center Administrator Missy Allen said. “One of our goals at Riverview is for our elders to stay connected to the community. This was an awesome event and everyone had a great time. Our elders enjoyed the visits from all the team. Prestonsburg High School should be very proud of each one of those students. They spent quality time with our elders and represented the school well. We want this to become an annual event as we have many who enjoy football and are Prestonsburg alumni. We all enjoy cheering on the Blackcats!”
