CAMPBELLSVILLE - After the first round of the Don Bishop Invitational, the University of Pikeville women’s golf team was in the top three, sitting in third place with a score of 349 on Monday at the Campbellsville Country Club. Final results from the tournament were unavailable at press time on Tuesday evening.
Paintsville High School graduate Katy Humphrey had her best round of the season with a five-over par 77 (38-39) to finish in second place overall. Only Cassidy Scantland of Campbellsville is in front of her after posting a 73 (35-38).
Lindsey Wilson was the team leader through 18 holes after firing a 319, while Campbellsville was second with a 325 and the Bears are 24 strokes behind second place.
To move up the leaderboard, UPIKE was needing some better performances to back up Humphrey. Brittany Brophy finished second on the team with an 88 (46-42), while the rest of the UPIKE lineup shot in the 90s.
Pikeville was back on the course Tuesday morning for the final round of the Don Bishop Invitational.
