PAINTSVILLE — A River man was injured last weekend in Johnson County after being ejected from a vehicle in a single car accident.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call of a single-vehicle accident on Saturday, Sept. 21, on Route 3224 in the River Community.

A 1997 White Ford Explorer being driven by Kenneth R. Lash II, 29, of River, ran off the roadway and struck a ditch. In the course of the accident, Lash was ejected from the driver’s side window of the Explorer. The vehicle reportedly flipped over and came to a final rest on its side. Deputies say that before the vehicle came to a stop, it rolled on top of Lash.

Lash was transported by Paintsville Emergency Medical Services to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. He was later transported to Cabell Huntington Medical Center. His condition had not been reported as of press time.

Assisting at the scene was the W.R. Castle Fire Department. This accident is currently under investigation by Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy David Pridemore.
