Man’s death being treated as murder

PRESTONSBURG — Few details are available, but police are investigating a man’s death Tuesday as murder.

Troopers and detectives with Kentucky State Police responding to an emergency call at Hibiscus Court made the find Tuesday afternoon. The body of Timothy Austin, 52, was found inside his apartment above the “Bargin Basement” consignment shop.

KSP confirmed Wednesday that the death is being investigated as a homicide but provided no additional details.
