Floyd VB players earn All-State honors

LOUISVILLE - Several Floyd County high school volleyball players have earn All-State honors from the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA). The KVCA released its All-State teams on Friday, Nov. 8

Allen Central’s Katie Kendrick and Betsy Layne’s Allie Meade and Cecilia Ray were named First Team All-State following their respective performances in the 2013 season.

Allen Central captured its third straight 15th Region title, blanking Pikeville 3-0 in the championship match at Paintsville High School. Kendrick was named the 15th Region Tournament Most Valuable Player.

The list of the All-State honorees, including the Second Team and Honorable Mention performers, follows.

2013 KVCA First Team All-State (Class A): Jessica Hall (Paintsville), Taunee Justice (Pikeville), Katie Kendrick (Allen Central), Allie Meade (Betsy Layne), Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton City), Blair Pack (Pikeville), Madi Perez (Whitesville Trinity), Cecilia Ray (Betsy Layne), Faith Runyon (Pikeville).

2013 KVCA Second Team All-State (Class A): Halie Browning (Washington County), DeShea Elliott (Allen Central), Allie Evans (LCA), Hannah Givens (Green County), Stephanie Hayden (Owensboro Catholic), Joslyn Isaac (South Floyd), Molly Kirk (Paintsville), Rachel Moore (Allen Central), Molly Thompson (Owensboro Catholic).

2013 KVCA Honorable Mention All-State (Class A): Marjorie Hammonds (Hazard), Jonna Isaac (South Floyd), Elizabeth Johnson (Shelby Valley), Kerrigan Samons (Paintsville), Kinsy Shofner (Green County), Savannah Sizemore (Leslie County), Johanna Spalding (Washington County), Janelle Tobler (St. Henry), Katie Williams (Betsy Layne).
