Kentucky Chamber honors Speaker Stumbo with Chamber MVP award

December 13, 2013

FRANKFORT – The Kentucky Chamber awarded House Speaker Greg Stumbo with the Chamber MVP Award at the Chamber’s annual Legislative Preview Conference. Speaker Stumbo was among a select group of legislators recognized for conspicuous actions to support Kentucky’s business community during the 2013 Kentucky General Assembly with a commemorative Louisville Slugger bat.

“This legislative session was perhaps one of the most successful I’ve seen in years, and that was due in no small part to Speaker Stumbo’s unprecedented bipartisan approach to solving our state’s pension crisis. I can safely say the issue would not have been resolved without his strong leadership and close working relationship with Senate President Stivers and Governor Beshear. This MVP award is only a small ‘thank you’ to them for ‘going to bat’ for Kentucky businesses,” said Chamber President & CEO Dave Adkisson.

In addition to monitoring the progress of bills that directly relate to the strength of the Commonwealth’s business community, the Chamber tracks how each legislator votes on these bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients displayed more than just a business-friendly voting record, but also went out of their way, and at times across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to the business climate in Kentucky.
