ALC ladies split two games in Pittsburgh

PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College women’s basketball team split two games in Pittsburgh over the weekend. Here’s a look at both games.

Point Park University 91, Alice Lloyd College 84: No. 24 Point Park University prevented Alice Lloyd College from claiming another win on Saturday, defeating the Lady Eagles 91-84.

Point Park used a 17-9 run to carry a 52-41 lead into halftime.

Samantha Weir paced Point Park with a game-high 31 points.

Freshman Amber Shepherd, a Johnson Central High School graduate who hails from Floyd County, led Alice Lloyd with 23 points and six rebounds.

Ariel Nickell flirted with a double-double, finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Eagles.

Finishing strong, Alice Lloyd outscored Point Park 43-39 in the second half.

Alice Lloyd College 76, Carlow University 65: Ariel Nickell turned in a double-double to lead Alice Lloyd to a hard-fought 76-65 victory over Carlow on Sunday.

Nickell paced Alice Lloyd with a game-high 24 points and 18 rebounds.

Courtney Crowder followed, contributing 13 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Eagles.

Taylor Arthur tossed in seven points and pulled down a game-high 22 rebounds for Alice Lloyd in the win.

Jessalyn Timko led Carlow with a team-high 21 points.

Alice Lloyd will host Ohio Christian on Saturday. Tip-off for the Alice Lloyd-Ohio Christian women’s basketball game is set for 2 p.m..

The Lady Eagles will visit Pikeville Sunday. Tip-off for the Alice Lloyd-Pikeville is also set for 2 p.m..
