FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Eastern Kentucky’s men’s basketball team will take to the road Sunday for a mid-major top 25 match-up at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).
The Colonels (8-4) are ranked 22nd in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. The Mastodons (10-4) are one spot behind at 23rd.

EKU last played on Wednesday, December 18. The Colonels led from start to finish in an 84-73 victory over North Carolina A&T. Senior Marcus Lewis finished with a career-best 20 points. Glenn Cosey added 19 points. Eastern shot 56 percent from the field and nailed 13-of-28 (46.4 percent) from behind the three-point line. The Colonels committed 10 fewer turnovers than the Aggies, but were outrebounded by 18.
Cosey continues to lead the team in scoring at 19.4 points per contest. The senior guard ranks 12th in the country with 40 three-point field goals, 17th with an average of 3.33 three-pointers per game and 22nd with a 90.2 free throw percentage. Lewis is averaging 12 points per game and is 28th in the country with 26 steals.
This will be IPFW’s fifth game of the season against an Ohio Valley Conference team. The Mastodons have beaten Tennessee Tech, SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois twice. Eastern Kentucky and IPFW have also both played Kennesaw State. The Colonels beat the Owls 68-60 before the Mastodons won 76-66.
IPFW is 5-0 at home this season. The team’s four losses have come at Dayton, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Illinois and Miami (Ohio). The Mastodons beat Eastern Illinois, 86-65, at home on Saturday. Steve Forbes, a 6-foot-9 junior forward, led the team with 20 points and six rebounds. Luis Jacobo, a 6-foot-5 senior forward, added 18 points and six boards off the bench. IPFW shot 55 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range.
Jacobo averages a team-best 14.3 points per game this season. Forbes contributes 11.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest. As a team, the Mastodons are shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 40.4 percent from three-point range and scoring 78.4 points per game.
The two teams will be meeting for the fourth time. EKU holds a 2-1 advantage in the series after picking up a 78-69 win in Richmond on Feb. 18, 2012.
