Nickell named KIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

PIPPA PASSES - Alice Lloyd College senior Ariel Nickell has been named the KIAC women’s basketball player of the week, conference officials announced on Monday. This is her second player of the week honor this season.

Alice Lloyd finished the week 3-0 after earning three conference wins. The Lady Eagles defeated Berea College 99-63, St. Louis College of Pharmacy 95-33 and IU Southeast 68-65. In the three wins, Nickell averaged 28 points and 13.7 rebounds. She connected on 63.6 percent (35-of-55) of her field goal attempts. The senior forward from neighboring Tennessee scored 36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win over Berea. She had 20 points and 15 rebounds against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Nickell ended the week with 28 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in the win against IU Southeast. She ranks first in NAIA Division II in points per game (26.18) and rebounds per game (13.65).

The Eagles are currently 11-6 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Alice Lloyd will return to action on Saturday when it ventures to Midway.
