PIKEVILLE — One of the region’s largest health care facilities is continuing to expand, as Pikeville Medical Center hosted the grand opening of their new clinic and parking garage complex in their central downtown campus on Thursday.
The expansion, the cost for which is estimated at around $150 million, seeks to add 11 stories of clinic space and 10 stories of parking to the sprawling facility. Clinic space will be dedicated to primary care, specialty care, outpatient surgery, and general office space. The enclosed parking garage will hold a maximum of 1,162 cars.
Part of that $150 million price tag comes from a $44.6 million loan in federal stimulus money dating back to 2009.
Pikeville Medical Center has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky for seven years, including the past five straight. Now in its 90th year of service, the hospital is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network and host to more than 400 health care services.
