Ray, Paintsville 11-12s vying for state title

PAINTSVILLE - Adams Middle School seventh-grader Grant Ray is set to compete in the Kentucky State Little League Baseball Tournament. Ray is a member of the Paintsville 11-12-year-old All-Star team.

Earlier in the month, the Paintsville 11-12 year old All-Star team won the District 7 Championship with a 11-1 victory over the Prestonsburg 11-12-year-old All-Star team at StoneCrest.

The Paintsville squad is set to face three opponents in as many days. Paintsville will play Morehead at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Warren County South at 3 on Sunday and Ohio County on Monday at 5 at Ephram White Park in Bowling Green.

North Oldham, Eastern American, Corbin and Campbellsville are also set to compete for a championship in the 11-12-year-old state tournament.

The Paintsville 10-11-year-olds will also vie for a state title, competing against Owensboro Southern, Muhlenberg County, Nelson County, Eastern, Knox County, Russell County and Russell-Flatwoods in another state tournament.

The 2014 Kentucky State Little League Baseball Tournament will hosted by District 1 July 19-23.
