AMS wins four of five matchups in grid-o-rama

PRESTONSBURG - The Adams Middle School football team excelled over the weekend, winning four of five matchups in the annual grid-o-rama at Pike County Central High School. Adams topped squads from Johnson County, Pike Central, Hazard and Belfry during the preseason event.

Both offensive and defensive units excelled for the Adams Middle School football program.

Offensively for the Blackcats, running back duo Ethan Varney and Zack Roberts combined to run for over 300 yards.

The Adams defense delivered three goal line stands and two interceptions in the five contests.

Middle school football teams from throughout the area are set to kick off their 2014 seasons.

Adams will host Martin County on Aug. 21.
