PIPPA PASSES - Alice Lloyd College men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped a doubleheader to squads from Milligan College on Friday at Grady Nutt Athletic Center. More on each game follows.
Women’s - Milligan 97, Alice Lloyd 80: Guards Tracy Hardiman and Kayla Kelly scored 17 points apiece to lead Milligan to a convincing 97-80 victory over host Alice Lloyd on Friday night.
With the win, Milligan improved to 3-1.
Struggling to take care of the basketball, Alice Lloyd committed 20 turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
Dominating in the non-conference matchup, Milligan carried a commanding 48-26 lead into halftime.
Junior Ariel Nickell, one of the state’s top small-college women’s basketball players, led Alice Lloyd with 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Alice Lloyd dropped to 2-2 after suffering the loss.
Men’s - Milligan 83, Alice Lloyd 67: Cartree Pettis tossed in 15 points to lead a balanced Milligan men’s basketball team team past Alice Lloyd, 83-67 Friday night.
Bigman Terry Muse paced Alice Lloyd with a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Rogers tossed in 12 points and Stuart Stamper added 11 for the Eagles.
Visiting Milligan led 39-27 at halftime.
Milligan shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded Alice Lloyd 37-32 in the contest between former conference rivals.
