PRESTONSBURG — A Russell woman was killed last week as she attempted to make a U-turn on Route 3.

According to Kentucky State Police, Linda Stambaugh, 64, was driving her 2003 Chevrolet west when she decided to turn around. She turned off the road prior to turning, then pulled into the path of a 1993 Jeep Cherokee, which had been behind her.

Stambaugh was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Chuck Hall.

The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Timothy Hurt.
