Roger A. Spradlin, 81, husband of Sue Spradlin, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.

Born August 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Lee and Allie Spradlin. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by daughter, Pam (John Paul) Leslie, and son, Greg (Terry) Spradlin; grandchildren, Amanda (Kenny) Thomas, Allison (Royce) Bailey, and Zachary Spradlin; great grandchildren, Avery and Elin Thomas and Meredith Bailey; a sister, Nadine Booth; and brother, Bruce (Sandra) Spradlin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family.

He was preceded in death by sister, Jewell Legge Tjossem; brother-in-law, William Booth; and a grandson, Justin Leslie.

He proudly served as Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Prestonsburg, where he raised his family, served for over 50 years in numerous capacities as a faithful member of the Community United Methodist Church and retired from Columbia Gas Transmission following over 35 years of employment. His joys in life were service to God, spending time with his family and friends and enjoying Southern Gospel music.

Visitation will be held at the Hall Funeral Home in Martin, on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at noon, Friday, Nov. 30, at the Community United Methodist Church, in Prestonsburg. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Gardens, in Prestonsburg.
