EASTERN - Sophomore guard/forward Peyton Case poured in a game-high 28 points as Betsy Layne defeated host Allen Central 70-51 for a 58th District/Floyd County Conference win Friday night at J.E. Campbell Arena.
Case led a Betsy Layne offensive effort that feature three different scorers in double figures.
Charles Daniels scored 12 points and Garran Newsome netted 10 for the Bobcats.
Betsy Layne shot 51.9 percent from the field, connecting on 28-of-54 attempts. The Bobcats were three-of-13 from 3-point range.
Betsy Layne hit over half of its shots from the foul line, draining 11-of-20 free throws.
The Bobcats moved out in front early and managed to stretch their lead over Allen Central in each quarter.
Betsy Layne outscored Allen Central 21-13 in the opening quarter and led 44-31 at halftime.
Remaining ahead after intermission, Betsy Layne outscored Allen Central 12-8 in the third quarter.
Dylan Meade scored nine points, Dalton Maldonado four and Dustin Rogers three for the Bobcats.
Andrew Tackett and Tanner Martin each had two points for the visiting Betsy Layne boys’ basketball team.
Betsy Layne is scheduled to entertain Allen Central on Feb. 1, 2013.
In the latest Betsy Layne-Allen Central boys’ basketball matchup, Mason Nelson, Tyler Keens and Cameron Hamilton led the Rebels with 10 points apiece. Narrowly missing double figures, Devan Horn netted nine points for the Rebels.
Josh Wiley scored six points and Junior Handshoe added four in the Allen Central team’s setback.
Freshmen Cameron Blevins and Rico Dominguez dented the Allen Central scoring column with one free throw apiece.
