A Floyd County native recently released her second book, titled “Tales from the Hills and Hollers of Eastern Kentucky: Volume Two.”

Rose O’Quinn Miller, who goes by the pseudonym Karen Quinn, a local Garrett woman, released the followup to her book “Tales from the Hills and Hollers of Eastern Kentucky” last week. Miller says her first book is currently in reprint, and will be available soon, though not in time for Christmas..

Although Miller writes under the pen name, Karen Quinn, her readers in Eastern Kentucky know her as Rose O’Quinn.

Miller said her regional books have been accepted with much enthusiasm by readers in the Kentucky and many surrounding states. Rose says that she has gone international when a friend took her book to a family in Japan.

Karen’s books are on sale currently at the Readmore Book in the Glynn View Plaza, in Prestonsburg. You may also find her second volume “More Tales from the Hills and Hollers of Eastern Kentucky” at The Lighthouse Christian Book Store, in Pikeville.

John Trusty, director of the Appalachian Artisan Center, said that he can’t keep Ms. Quinn’s books on the shelves at the Artisan Center.

Karen delights in helping her readers learn about her mountain customs of yesteryear, and does so through delightful story form.

For more information on Miller, or the books “Tales and More Tales from the Hills and Hollers of Eastern Kentucky,” visit her website at www.karensappalachia.com.

Miller says her books are expected to be featured in “Kentucky Living Magazine” sometime this spring.

According to Miller, she signs every copy of her books that she places in local bookstores, and adds that they would make wonderful Christmas gifts.
