MOREHEAD - Morehead State University Head Men’s Cross Country Coach Brent Ericksen was named the state’s College Men’s Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (KTCCCA).

Ericksen will receive his honor at the KTCCCA awards banquet on Saturday.

In his second season, he helped three Eagle runners place their names on the MSU top-10 performance list. He also mentored the Eagle runners to team victories over several regionally-ranked squads.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Kentucky Coaches Association,” Ericksen said. “Our kids and staff worked hard to improve on the team we inherited a year ago, and it is great to see that others have recognized our improvement as well.”

MSU posted three top-five finishes this year, including winning the Fast Cats Classic and placing second among 21 of the region’s best teams at the Memphis Twilight. The Eagles finished fourth at the OVC Championships. MSU defeated regionally-ranked teams Mississippi, Belmont, Alabama, Memphis, Chattanooga, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State and Marshall.
