Willie Compton, 90, of Hueysville, husband of Beckie Nester Compton, died Jan. 8, 2013, at his residence.

Born Dec. 4, 1922, in Floyd County, to the late Dave and Maudie Handshoe Compton, he was a retired forklift operator.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Calvin (Barbara) Compton, of Hueysville; two daughters, Edna (Adam) Wireman and Betty Compton, both of Hueysville; a brother, Mitchell Compton, of Cashoction, Ohio; five grandchildren, Daniel, Amber, Autumn, Jennifer and Ashley; and six great grandchildren, Callie, Gabe, Luke, Andrew, Nicole and Sydney.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd Compton, Chester Compton and Jackie Compton; three sisters, Bertha Compton Wallen, Goldie Collins and Gladys Day; and a grandson, Dustin Williams.

Funeral services for Willie Compton will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 12, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Bethel Bolen officiating. Burial will follow at the Compton Bailey Cemetery, at Hueysville.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, and all day Friday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home.
