NEW ALBANY - The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles had their four-game win streak snapped on Saturday. Host IU Southeast edged the Lady Eagles 80-78 in a KIAC matchup.

Behind 16 points from sophomore guard Carla Booth, Alice Lloyd led 44-39 at halftime.

Homestanding IU Southeast, however, battled back. The Lady Grenadiers used an 18-5 run to pull ahead of the Alice Lloyd women.

Alice Lloyd’s Ariel Nickell pumped in 20 second-half points to lead the visiting team on a comeback. With 4.5 seconds remaining and IUS clinging to a 79-78 lead, IU Southeast guard Ashmire Woods went to the line. She sank the first, but missed the second charity toss. Unfortunately for Alice Lloyd, Woods corralled her own miss and was able to drain precious time off the clock, preserving the win for her club.

Woods led IUS (10-7 overall, 3-3 in the KIAC) with 22 points and 17 rebounds.

Nickell paced Alice Lloyd (11-7 overall, 4-2 KIAC) with 29 points and 19 rebounds. Booth followed, adding 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Booth’s running mate in the ALC backcourt, JJ Hickson, chipped in 13 points.

Alice Lloyd will be back on the court on Friday, playing St. Louis College of Pharmacy at Berea. Tip-off for the Alice Lloyd-St. Louis College of Pharmacy women’s basketball game is set for 6:30 p.m.
