PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College women’s basketball team notched back-to-back wins late last week, defeating St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Indiana University East. After posting the two wins, Alice Lloyd moved back into first-place in the KIAC standings.
ALC 87, SLCOP 26: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles overwhelmed the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Lady Eutectics on Friday, winning 87-26 at Berea College’s Seabury Center. ALC head coach John Mills recorded his 300th career win.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early lead and maintained an advantage from start to finish Alice Lloyd took a commanding 41-9 lead into halftime.
Finishing strong, Alice Lloyd outscored St. Louis College of Pharmacy 46-17 in the second half.
Ariel Nickell paced Alice Lloyd (12-7 overall 6-2 KIAC) with 16 points. JJ Hickson scored 14 points and Chelsea Brown added 10 for the ALC women’s basketball team.
Amber Laurent led the SLCOP (1-9, 0-3 KIAC) with 11 points.
Alice Lloyd was 35-of-74 (47.3 percent) from the field. The ALC defense denied any offensive rhythm for SLCOP, holding the KIAC to a 9-of-46 (19.6 percent) shooting effort from the floor.
ALC 67, MC 59: The Alice Lloyd College women’s basketball team earned another KIAC win on Saturday, defeating host Midway College 67-56.
The Lady Eagles led 35-32 at halftime.
Ariel Nickell paced Alice Lloyd (13-7, 7-2) with 28 points and 13 rebounds, both game-high efforts.
Carla Booth added 21 points for the Lady Eagles.
McKenzie Laswell led Midway with 16 points.
ALC was 26-of-57 (45.6 percent) from the field. Midway shot 36.5 percent, draining 23-of-63 field goal attempts
Alice Lloyd will visit Asbury on Thursday. Tip-off for the Alice Lloyd-Asbury women’s basketball game is set for 5:30 p.m.
