OWENSBORO - On January 14, Becca Greenwell of Owensboro Catholic High School set a national record when she made 17 3-point field goals in the Aces’ girls basketball victory over Whitesville (Kentucky) Trinity High School.

In the process, Greenwell scored a school-record 51 points. Interestingly, all of her points came from her three-point field goals.

According to the National Federation of State High School Associations’ online multimedia National High School Sports Record Book, the former record of 15 three-point field goals in a game was held by five individuals.

Greenwell, who is a 6-foot-1 senior guard and has committed to Duke (North Carolina) University, made her first six three-point attempts, was 10-for-12 at halftime and 17-for-27 for the game. Despite missing her entire junior season with an injury, Greenwell has scored 2,997 career points.
