PRESTONSBURG — A native short story writer and playwright will be in Prestonsburg next month, to sign copies of his novel.

John H. Preston will appear at Readmore Bookstore Feb. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m., to sign copies of “Everything Important Happens on a Hillside.”

According to Preston, the novel depicts the fictional small town of Hambleysburg, Ky., which “is a composite of Pikeville, Prestonsburg and Paintsville.

Preston is a native of Prestonsburg and was a writing instructor at community colleges in Prestonsburg and Ashland. He now lives in Lawrence County, where sees himself as “a teacher and farmer in the tradition of Robert Frost, Wendell Berry and the like.”

More information about Preston and his works can be found on his Facebook page, www.facebook.com/JohnButchPreston.
