Bruce Hackworth
Bruce Hackworth, 77 years of age, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born June 26, 1935, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of the late Charles Hackworth and Ollie Stephens Hackworth. Bruce was a self-employed carpenter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carson Hackworth, Troy Hackworth and Beverly Hackworth, and a sister, Minerva Abbott.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Evelyn Vaughn Hackworth; three sons, Charles Hackworth, David Hackworth and Tony Hackworth, all of Prestonsburg; a daughter, Grace C. Goodman, of Prestonsburg; two sisters, Mabel Leamon, of Cromwell, Ind., and Alka Hale, of Piketon, Ohio; four granddaughters, Whitney Brook, Kaitlyne Elizabeth and Savannah Leann Hackworth, all of Prestonsburg, and Heather Goodman, of Lexington; and a grandson, Zachary Hackworth, of Prestonsburg.
Private graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Hackworth Family Cemetery, in Prestonsburg, with Malcomb Slone officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4338 13th Street, Ashland, KY 41102.
The family has entrusted arrangements to the Carter Funeral Home.
