HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Wesley Christian High School boys’ basketball team defeated host Huntington St. Joseph 58-55 on Wednesday night at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena to advance to the championship game of the 36th Annual CSX Transportation St. Joseph Invitational Tournament.
Wesley Christian improved to 9-6 after posting the win.
After exchanging the lead throughout the contest, Wesley Christian managed to hang on for the victory.
The two teams were knotted 30-30 at halftime.
Joshua Amuzu led Wesley Christian with a team-high 21 points. Stephen Goble joined Amuzu in double figures, adding 13 points for the Riders.
With the victory, Wesley Christian advances to play West Virginia Class A powerhouse Charleston Catholic on Friday night at 9 p.m.
