EASTERN - Allen Central High School senior guard Hannah MacElhose scored the 1,000th point of her career on Monday night in the Lady Rebels’ 75-50 win over 58th District/Floyd County Conference rival Prestonsburg. MacElhose reached the scoring milestone with two seconds remaining in the third quarter.
MacElhose has helped to lead the Allen Central girls’ basketball program throughout her career.
Allen Central remained undefeated in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference, improving to 7-0. The Lady Rebels posted their second straight win after losing three consecutive games. Allen Central dropped games to Sheldon Clark, Shelby Valley and Paintsville as part of the recent three-game skid. The Lady Rebels, however, continue to lead in the race for a Floyd County Conference championship. Under the direction of first-year head coach Derrick Newsome, Allen Central carried a 12-10 overall record out of the district/conference contest.
Prestonsburg dropped to 4-4 in the district/conference after falling in the road game. The Lady Blackcats fell back into the loss column after defeating Piarist School 55-38 on Jan. 31.
